AUDITIONS FOR THE PHC ARE OPEN!
The Philippine Homeschool Chorale (PHC) is a unique and inspiring ensemble that brings together young singers from the homeschooling community to showcase their musical talent and love for choral music. Founded in 2023 by Liaa Ambrosio-Patag, a former member of the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers and a homeschooling mother and music teacher herself, the chorale was created as a way to merge her two great passions: music and education. Drawing from her wealth of experience in both choral music and homeschooling, she envisioned PHC not just as a choir, but as a platform for nurturing the musical and personal growth of children in a supportive, creative environment
From its humble beginnings in Quezon City, the Philippine Homeschool Chorale quickly gained recognition under the direction of Ms. Celedonia Franco, also a former member of the Philippine Madrigal Singers. With Teacher Cel’s expert guidance and the choir's dedication, PHC made a memorable debut at the prestigious Madz Et Al choral festival in 2023. The event, titled "Triumphs of Andrea", was a tribute to the late National Artist for Music and founder of the Philippine Madrigal Singers, Prof. Andrea O. Veneracion. This performance, alongside other esteemed choirs including the Madz, marked a significant milestone in the choir’s journey, showcasing the remarkable talent of its young members.
In addition to its festival debut, the Philippine Homeschool Chorale has already started building a performance portfolio. Their concerts, including "Movies and Musicals" at Buluwagang Claret and "Love Came Down At Christmas" at the UP Church of the Risen Lord, have been well-received, jumpstarting their participation in the vibrant Philippine choral scene.
As the chorale’s vision expanded, so did its reach. In 2024, PHC became a growing family with the addition of two new chapters: PHC-Alabang, led by Mr. Vell Litan, and PHC-Mandaluyong, under the direction of Ms. Ma. Rhina Paula Palma-Cruz. Like Teacher Cel, Teacher Vell and Teacher Rhina are also esteemed alumni of the Philippine Madrigal Singers, further solidifying the choir's ties to the rich history and tradition of choral excellence in the Philippines.
The Philippine Homeschool Chorale's mission goes beyond the pursuit of musical excellence. It aims to create a supportive and empowering environment for homeschoolers to express themselves, build confidence, and develop a deep appreciation for music. By providing a platform for young voices to thrive, PHC is shaping the next generation of Filipino musicians while fostering a sense of community and pride within the homeschool network. With its continued growth and dedication to artistic excellence, the Philippine Homeschool Chorale is poised to leave an indelible mark on the Philippine choral landscape in the years to come.
